Spokane Trip
9/10/26 through 9/12/26

In honor of this being a
Spokane post, here’s
Macklemore’s Downtown.
It even features my hotel,
The Montvale, at 4:00!

My long time lucky number,
no less.

I went alone to Spokane for an Ashley Gavin show. I stayed at a beautiful hotel called The Montvale.

During the day, I went to Frank’s for breakfast. It’s made out of an old dining car from a train, and has the best, most genuine diner vibes and food. I had chicken fried steak, black house blend coffee, and some fruit.

From there, I went to Spokandy, which I hadn’t been to in around 15 years. The people working there didn’t seem happy in general, but the lady who helped me was kind.

I really hoped to make it to Silver Safari to get another piercing, but the uber each way was the same price of the work I wanted done, and I couldn’t justify it. So what do I do instead? Walk to the fancy mall and drop unreasonable money. Granted, it was items I planned to buy online anyway, and had thought long and hard about before doing so. I bought my very first MacBook and AirPod Max 2.

While killing time before the show, I did another first- made a Roblox account to play a dress-up game with a friend’s kid, the friend, and a mutual. It felt weird just making the account, after all I’d seen come from adults playing that game.

I then went to the show and was sat with a disjointed friend group- All centered around one woman who was mostly quiet and her two friends that didn’t know each other. We all talked about our cats and ate our mandatory snacks, lamenting at how the quality was lower than a gas station. The show itself was… Different. Not what I expected. She was very fixated on a trans man for the majority of the show, and the rest of it was focused on a married couple. The husband was absolutely yearning for the cuck chair and the wife was drinking heavily to numb herself to what happened next. Ashley brought them both on stage, kissed the husband, and then was nervous-crushing all over the wife before kissing her, too.

It just felt so awkward, and even the girl I was sat with and talking to the most felt off about it. When in line for the merch (a post card of a joke she hardly got to), I heard a lot of people feeling the same way. I get to her and ask how I can pay, and the only way I could ended up being tap to pay. “Its okay, I love to tap.” “Dont we all hah” she responded. After putting my foot in my mouth, I took some pictures with her. She was worried she smelled bad, but she didn’t (lol). All in all, the show was a great way to squash another little celebrity crush… Maybe not entirely, but still. Yes, I am absolutely blushing in this photo.

I walked back to my room, passing on the after-show at the arcade bar. A lot of people said it’s low quality and high price, plus I thought I had a train to catch. Nope. Train broke down in Whitefish, MT. I didn’t want to stay up extra late to see if and when it would show, so i moved my ticket to the next day and booked another hotel room. My second day in the city wasn’t too exciting. I went to Starbucks for breakfast while I played around with the new laptop. After some time, I decided to bite the bullet on the finger slice I had gotten at some point that became infected.

The clinic wasn’t so bad. I uber’d there but walked back. Dick’s, a Washington legend, was on the way. I stopped there, offering two homeless people some food. I’d only helped one person the day before; his name was Guillermo. Dick’s is crazy cheap, making it even easier. I was a little worried, asking for 5 burgers at first, but it was a manageable price. I definitely spent more on Panda Express the night before.

I went back to the mall, bought a change of clothes, some takeout hibachi, and headed to my new hotel. The receptionist, Jade, was awesome. We talked about nail polish, AI, workers rights, all the things most people wouldn’t get energized by. I went to my room, got showered, changed, ate my upsettingly low quality dinner, and slept until it was time for the train.

I’m glad I got out and did something different in a new environment. I heard Spokane is very dangerous, and that I was likely in the safer areas. Someone at the show said she even found a body in her dumpster. I’m lucky and happy to be safe, despite the amount of solo night walking that I did.
